Rehearsing in 3D!

At some points over the last 18 months it has seemed we might never sing together again. Our director, Gavin Carr did an exceptional job at keeping us all together, rehearsing on Zoom, almost from the beginning of the pandemic. As anyone who has tried it will Zoom is an imperfect option for choral singing, but gradually we found a new way of enjoying the music and it was so good to be able to see each other’s faces!

It’s testament to good leadership that we were still seeing around 90 screens each week by the end and welcomed several new members as well as some visiting ‘guests’ over the time. So while it may not have been great for keeping our voices in good form, or learning music thoroughly, online rehearsing was vital in keeping us all connected as the Minerva we are. Huge thanks to everyone who made it happen.

However, after much risk assessing and planning we have now completed two ‘in person’ rehearsals and the smiles on everyone’s faces have been an indication of how much we appreciate just singing together in the same room,

We hope our audience enjoys the results in November!
