Bath Minerva Choir

Singing with passion in the city of Bath

Bath Minerva Choir is one of the leading choirs in the city of Bath, with well over one hundred members.

Under the inspiring direction of our conductor, Gavin Carr, we take on a challenging and varied repertoire, setting ourselves the highest standards of performance.

We are honoured to have the acclaimed tenor James Gilchrist as our sponsor and as soloist at many of our concerts.

The choir usually performs two major concerts a year, often in the beautiful setting of Bath Abbey, with professional orchestras and soloists, with whom we are truly privileged to perform.

Concerts in the last few years have included Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Faure’s Requiem, Vaughan William’s Dona Nobis Pacem, Bach’s St John’s Passion, contemporary works from composers such as Eric Whitacre and Paul Carr and also Handel’s Messiah which we also performed at the BBC Proms in 2024.

Occasional summer weekend workshops are open to guest singers as well as choir members, they included Britten’s War Requiem, Tippett’s A Child of our Time, Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Monteverdi’s Vespers, an Eric Whitacre weekend and Richard Blackford's Not in Our Time
