'Minerva, continuing their renaissance under Gavin Carr's masterly direction, have developed a very full, rich sound, allied to a vocal discipline which gave us a dramatic and musically well-informed performance.....' Bath Chronicle, April 2010.
We are one of the leading choirs in the city of Bath, with well over one hundred members. We normally give three concerts a year, often in the beautiful setting of Bath Abbey, and mostly with professional orchestras and soloists. Under the inspiring direction of our conductor, Gavin Carr, we take on some challenging repertoire and set ourselves the highest standards of performance - recent concerts have included Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, an a capella programme of Rachmaninov and Tavener, Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony and Beethoven's Mass in C. We welcome singers of all standards, making this an ideal choir to join if you are less confident or returning to choral singing after a long break, but the choir also offers great opportunities for the more experienced and confident singer. After our December 10 concert, Venetian Splendour, we will start rehearsals again for Bruckner’s Mass in F Minor on Saturday, January 7, 2012. We are currently looking for a few new members in all voice parts, so this would be a very good time to join! Please call Joanna Wiesner on 01225 420588 if you are interested.
